# Running log

Note each run’s date, distance and time. See your pace and weekly totals in kilometres and miles, and take it all with you as a CSV file.

## How the log works

Add a run with its date, distance and time; the log works out the pace per km and per mile. Runs are kept in your browser’s local storage on this device, so there is no account and nothing is uploaded. Clearing your browser data, or using a private window, removes them, so export a CSV now and then as a backup.

Weekly totals run Monday to Sunday and add up runs typed in either unit, shown in both kilometres and miles.

## Building up your weekly distance

You will often hear the “10% rule”: add no more than 10% a week. The evidence for it is mixed. In a randomised trial of 532 novice runners training for a 4-mile (6.7 km) event, a 13-week programme built on it had about the same injury rate as an 8-week one (20.8% against 20.3%). Treat it as a rough guide, and let how your body feels count too.

### Want a free training plan PDF?

Training-plan sites and running apps often send the plan only after you give an email address, then keep sending offers. A temporary inbox from [CleanTempMail](https://cleantempmail.com/) takes it with no sign-up and empties itself after three days, so download the plan straight away. Always use your real address for race entries: that is where your bib number and start details go.

## Questions

**Where are my runs saved?**

In this browser’s local storage, under the name `runpebble-log`. They never leave your device unless you export them.

**Can I open the CSV in a spreadsheet?**

Yes. Each row has the date, distance, unit and time you typed, the distance in km and miles, both paces and your note. Importing the file restores the log exactly, and runs already in it are skipped.

**Can I move my log to another device?**

Export a CSV here, open this page on the other device and import the file there.
